Bundaberg Brewed Drinks (BBD) is one of Australia’s most iconic family‑owned beverage companies, best known worldwide for its traditional Ginger Beer. Over the years, BBD has successfully grown into a global brand while remaining true to its roots: a carefully preserved family recipe, locally sourced ingredients, and a patient brewing process that allows each batch time to develop its distinctive flavor.

 

Today, BBD’s portfolio includes around 15 different craft beverages, ranging from classic Ginger Beer to innovative flavors and reduced‑sugar variants. Changing consumer habits and a growing demand for premium, handcrafted drinks prompted the company to expand beyond its original offerings and enter new international markets, including New Zealand, the United States, South Korea, China, and Europe. Rapid growth soon made it clear that additional production capacity was needed. While the original brewery had served the company reliably for decades, space and scalability became limiting factors. BBD therefore made a strategic decision to build a new, state‑of‑the‑art brewery in Bundaberg, reinforcing its commitment to local production and long‑term growth in its home region. The new site was designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for modular expansion and future additions.

 

At the heart of the new brewery is a high‑speed turnkey filling line from Krones, selected to meet demanding requirements for efficiency, quality, and flexibility. The line integrates filling, rinsing, labeling, and packaging into a seamless process and is among the fastest glass bottle lines with ring‑pull closures worldwide, reaching up to 51,000 bottles per hour. Advanced inspection systems ensure consistent quality across a wide range of product variants, while short changeover times allow BBD to respond quickly to market needs.

 

 

Beyond performance, the new line supports Bundaberg Brewed Drinks’ long‑term philosophy: combining tradition with innovation. With comprehensive training and close collaboration between BBD and Krones, the team quickly developed the expertise needed to operate the line at a consistently high level. The result is a production setup that delivers reliability, premium quality, and the flexibility required for continued growth.
