DAHER WINS A JEC COMPOSITES INNOVATION AWARD FOR HIGHLY LOADED THERMOPLASTIC WING RIB DEVELOPED FOR FUTURE AIRCRAFT PROGRAMS

 

Collaborative breakthrough based-on VICTREX LMPAEK™ technology to deliver sustainable, high performance solution for commercial aviation

 

Daher has been honoured with the prestigious JEC Composites Innovation Award Aerospace (Parts) at JEC World Premiere 2026 in Paris, France. The award celebrates the most innovative, global composite solutions.

 

Daher’s Highly Loaded Thermoplastic Wing Rib was developed for the next generation of commercial aircraft. This breakthrough in aerospace composites and sustainable aviation technology was achieved through a powerful collaboration involving Victrex, Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Cetim Centre technique des industries mécaniques, AniForm Engineering B.V. and Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile, addressing key challenges shaping the future of aviation: decarbonisation, cost efficiency, and high-rate production.

 

Advancing Aerospace Structures with Lightweight, Sustainable Thermoplastics

 

The Highly Loaded Thermoplastic Wing Rib made with VICTREX LMPAEK™ thermoplastic composites represents a major step forward in aerospace composite technology. Key features include:

 

  • Carbon-Fibre-Reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) composite rib reaching up to 64 plies (12 mm.)
  • Optimised design improving mass-to-cost ratio
  • Direct Stamping® to cut cycle time and manufacturing cost
  • Infrared welding enabling fast, rivet-free assembly
