The National Quality Infrastructure (NQI)

NQI is an internationally recognized framework that designs, establishes, and performs standardization practices using conformity assessment, metrology, and accreditation. One Institution that supports the efforts of NQI is The National Institute of Metrology (NMI), through its role in building and preserving national measurement standards for laboratories. NMI delivers accurate measurement traceability together with technical support, access to calibrations, and reference materials.

Significant Roles of The National Institute of Metrology

NMI broadly covers accurate scientific measurement with advanced infrastructure technology to assist with standardization, regulation, innovation, and fair trade. NMI assures the reliability accuracy, consistency, and comparability of measurement results by being traceable to the national measurement standards and the SI units. This is largely achieved through maintaining measurement standards, providing calibration services, and developing Certified Reference Materials (CRMs).

NIMT establishes and maintains measurement standards for both physical and chemical measurements in Thailand. For chemical measurements, NIMT produces and distributes Certified Reference Materials which are a particular form of measurement standard that is recognized nationally and internationally. Thailand Reference Material (TRM) is a trademark of the CRMs produced by one of NIMT or Designated Institute (DI).

Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) on Rice Analysis Developed by NIMT

Many Certified Reference Materials for rice analysis have been developed, for example, Moisture in Paddy (10-18%), Moisture in Rice (10-18%), Moisture in Rice Powder, Elements in Glutinous Rice and Arsenic in White Rice Flour, Bt63- Rice Plasmid DNA, Organophosphate Pesticides in Rice Flour, and element standard solutions. Additionally, Aflatoxins in Rice Flour, Bt63-Rice Plasmid DNA, LLrice601-Rice Plasmid DNA, LLrice62-Rice Plasmid DNA for Genetically Modified Rice are currently in development. For rice analysis, these CRMs can be used to check the quality and metrological traceability of measurements, validate analytical measurement methods and calibrate the measurement instruments.
