New Sky Energy (Bangkok) Co., Ltd. has launched its On Nut waste-to-energy plant, capable of processing at least 1,000 tons of waste per day.

The facility generates 35 megawatts of electricity, bolstering Bangkok’s waste management capacity while incorporating advanced innovations for odor control and environmental protection.

New Sky Energy (Bangkok) Co., Ltd. has commenced full-scale operations at its On Nut waste-to-energy plant. The facility is designed to handle at least 1,000 tons of waste daily, utilizing waste-to-energy technology to convert refuse into 35 megawatts of electricity. It features state-of-the-art systems for odor management and environmental control. Additionally, the company has established a waste management learning center, offering government agencies, the private sector, and the general public an opportunity to study modern waste disposal processes. The initiative also includes programs for vocational development, environmental education, and the enhancement of the local community’s quality of life—underscoring a business model that prioritizes sustainable growth alongside social and environmental responsibility.

Mr. He Ning, CEO of New Sky Energy (Bangkok) Co., Ltd., stated that waste management is a critical challenge for large metropolitan areas—particularly Bangkok, which generates approximately 10,000 tons of waste per day. Implementing waste-to-energy technology serves as an effective solution to improve waste management efficiency and create added value by transforming waste into electrical power.

The On Nut waste-to-energy plant is engineered to process a minimum of 1,000 tons of waste per day, employing combustion-based technology to generate electricity. The Waste-to-Energy process operates through a systematically controlled sequence. It begins with the intake of waste into a storage pit located within an enclosed building, which has a capacity of approximately 24,000 tons. The waste is stored for 3–5 days to reduce its moisture content before being lifted by a crane into a stoker-type incinerator, where temperatures are maintained between 850°C and 1,100°C. The heat generated from this combustion process is used to produce high-pressure steam, which drives a steam turbine and an electrical generator, capable of producing approximately 35 megawatts of electricity. This effectively maximizes the utility of the thermal energy derived from waste.

Another key feature of the project is its odor management and environmental control system. The waste storage pit is designed as a closed system, equipped with a negative-pressure ventilation setup. By maintaining lower air pressure inside the building compared to the outside, the system ensures that air flows inward rather than outward. Air from within the storage pit is drawn into the incinerator to be used in the combustion process—at temperatures ranging from 850°C to 1,100°C—thereby preventing odors from the storage pit from spreading to the surrounding area.

Furthermore, the project employs “E-nose” (electronic nose) technology for odor detection and monitoring. Using a sensor array, it detects volatile substances in the air and converts them into digital data—an “odor fingerprint”—which is then processed by artificial intelligence (AI). This allows for the rapid analysis, classification, and intensity assessment of odors, enabling continuous monitoring within the waste storage area. This enhances environmental management efficiency and reduces the likelihood of negative impacts on the surrounding community.

At the same time, the project prioritizes transparency and public understanding of its operational processes. It features a control room, a laboratory, and a real-time emission monitoring system, which facilitate the tracking and oversight of environmental operations—underscoring the value of integrating technology with systematic management and rigorous monitoring.

Beyond its core mission of waste management and energy production, the company places significant emphasis on community relations throughout the project’s development. Engagement begins well before construction, fostering awareness and understanding of the project while providing a platform for the public to share their feedback, concerns, and challenges. This input is then incorporated into planning efforts to prevent or mitigate potential impacts arising from operations.

Community relations initiatives encompass a wide range of activities, including the promotion of livelihoods, education on proper waste sorting and disposal, and support for programs that enhance the quality of life and strengthen the local community. The company places a strong emphasis on continuous engagement and the cultivation of positive relationships between its projects and local residents. Currently, it actively manages relations with over 120 communities located within a 5-kilometer radius of its project sites, fostering a spirit of mutual support and ensuring sustainable, shared growth with these communities.

Most recently, New Sky Energy (Thailand) Co., Ltd., alongside its affiliate C&G Environmental Protection (Thailand) Co., Ltd.—led by CEO He Ning, senior executives, and representatives from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand—donated 3,000,000 THB to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The donation was received by Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt at the Thani Nopparat Building, Bangkok City Hall (Din Daeng). The funds are intended to support the BMA’s efforts in flood recovery, prevention, and mitigation, while also serving as a gesture of encouragement for the personnel working to alleviate hardships and restore the quality of life for the public.

Furthermore, the newly launched Waste Management Learning Center is designed as a hub for sharing knowledge on modern waste management technologies. It offers government agencies, the private sector, educational institutions, and the general public an opportunity to learn about the entire waste-to-energy process—from waste reception and storage in the waste pit to the operation of waste-grabbing cranes, incineration technology, power generation, and environmental control systems—all presented through informative video media. 3D Power Plant Model and On-Site Facility Tour

New Sky remains committed to conducting its business with a strong sense of responsibility toward society and the environment. The company prioritizes the development of waste management technologies, the generation of energy from available resources, and active engagement in supporting local communities. Through these efforts, New Sky serves as a driving force in creating a clean, safe city with a high quality of life—because New Sky is all about bringing smiles to everyone.
