Filling Spring Water at Record Speed

Supplying spring water across a country as vast as Australia is no small task. Stretching more than 4,000 kilometers from east to west, the continent presents logistical challenges that demand efficiency, reliability, and scale. With a new high‑performance filling line from Krones, Nu‑Pure Beverages has taken a major step forward — increasing production capacity to a new benchmark while continuing to focus on sustainability and ultra‑lightweight packaging.
At Nu‑Pure’s newest production facility in Horsley Park, Sydney, performance is more than a set of KPIs. For Sam Mishler, Vice President Country Manager Australia, operational excellence starts with ownership. Regular walks through the 20,000‑square‑meter production hall allow him to see first‑hand how teams take responsibility for both challenges and successes — from machine operators to shift supervisors. This culture of accountability has become a defining strength of the site.
Horsley Park is Nu‑Pure’s fourth and newest plant — and it was built entirely from scratch during the Covid‑19 pandemic. Delayed container shipments and limited material availability forced the team to improvise and find solutions independently. According to National Manufacturing Manager Ryan Oxley, this experience strengthened the team’s technical understanding and self‑reliance, making the plant particularly capable and resilient today.

A long‑standing partnership with Krones played a key role in the project’s success. Nearly all of the technology at the site comes from Krones, from planning and engineering to commissioning and ongoing support. This collaboration recently culminated in the installation of Australia’s fastest PET filling line, capable of processing up to 100,000 bottles per hour. At the heart of the line is a new ErgoBloc L, combining stretch blow molding, labeling, and filling in a compact, high‑efficiency setup.
Beyond speed, the line delivers significant sustainability benefits. Nu‑Pure has further reduced bottle weight without compromising performance, achieving an industry‑leading 8.59 grams for a 600‑ml PET bottle. Since its successful commissioning in October 2025, the line has helped Nu‑Pure reliably meet rising demand, just in time for Australia’s summer peak season.
This project demonstrates how advanced technology, strong partnerships, and committed teams can come together to set new standards — in performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
